Ph.D. Studentship in Economic Geography at Clark

The Graduate School of Geography at Clark University (Worcester, Mass., USA) is announcing a 3-year Ph.D. studentship in Economic Geography.  We seek students who are interested in pursuing careers as economic geographers, and intend to write doctoral dissertations that engage with current debates in economic geography.  Preference is given to candidates who focus on one or more aspects of global economic change.

Clark’s Graduate School of Geography is the oldest sustained program of geography and has awarded more Ph.D.s than any other geography program in the U.S. It is the home of the internationally peer-reviewed journal, Economic Geography.

The studentship will offer a guaranteed tuition remission and university stipend for research assistantship during the first year, and either research or teaching assistantship stipend for the second and the third year, with a possible extension in the fourth year.

To apply, follow the regular procedure to apply for the Ph.D. program.  In the personal statement form, state your wish to apply for this competition and justify how your intended area of research within economic geography will contribute to research on global economic change.  The deadline for application is December 31st, 2008.
